About Me
How did I get here?
I have always been someone who likes to support others. Whether it be the students I have supported in the classroom for the past 12 years or my friends and family, I am often the person that others will come to for advice or a listening ear. In particular, I have always had a keen interest in pregnancy and birth and how it can affect families in so many different ways. Everyone's birth story is a unique and personal experience and it has become my honor to be able to impact these experiences in a positive way.
It was after the birth of my son at 32 weeks when I realized that the support you receive during pregnancy, labour and after can make a difference. I was faced with a medical situation that I didn't understand and so many worries that that I didn't know how to calm. There were questions and concerns that shouldn't of been voiced to the internet but rather someone who could offer a supportive ear and reliable information. My son spent 6 weeks in the NICU and I feel so blessed to have had the wonderful care provided by his medical team. However, I always had this sense that I didn't have any control over my choices and this was purely from a lack of education about my options.

This carried over to the birth of my daughter 3 years later where fear took over at the idea of having a "high risk" birth and I chose to avoid educating myself about how I had the power to give myself the support and birth that I wanted for myself and baby.
Having a positive birth experience isn't always about how closely it will follow your birth plan but really about how you will FEEL. I've come to realize that with educating yourself on your options comes a sense of empowerment and having consistent support throughout it can bring you feelings of satisfaction no matter what happens.
I want families to look back and feel like they were supported in every way possible. I provide non judgmental support and will support your birth whether it be at home with a midwife or in the hospital with a Doctor. I can't wait to make a difference in one of the most important moments in your lifetime.

I would highly recommend Sheena as a Doula. It was a great to have an advocate during labour. I really felt as though she made my well-being and comfort her top priority. It was also so nice to have her postpartum services so I could focus on taking care of my new baby as well as myself.
